Nov 2020

Social network analysis (SNA) can be used as a mean to investigate individual and group behavior in sporting teams (Lusher & Robins, 2010). There are a few ways that SNA is used to depict information that involves complex understanding of team sports. A study by Grund (2012) has found that centralized interactions depicts a decrease in team performance while high levels of interaction lead to increase team performance. The advantage of SNA is that its ability to analyze both social structures and individual attributes simultaneously (Lusher & Robins, 2010). In these sense, SNA is capable to provide analysis in complex situation that exist within teams. Thus, it helps coaches and practitioners to answer certain complex situation that can turn the findings into a proactive decision. This workshop will provide insight into network analysis and its benefit to the team. It will have a combination of lectures and hands-on of the process of setting the network analysis from collecting the raw data to the final visual output.
